Diamond Blades

Diamond blades are used to cut materials like concrete, brick, block, stone and other stone materials. A diamond blade is made up of a steel core and metal which is mixed with diamond crystals called diamond segments. The diamond segments on the blade are either brazed on or laser welded to the core.

Diamond Blades by nature are not sharp like wood saw blades. These kinds of blades grind the material away to be cut at a very high rate of speed. Diamond blades have rectangular shaped segments which hold diamond particles on the tip of each segment for grinding through stone materials. The softness or hardness or the bond of the blade is a very important part of the design of the blade. The bond matrix is made specifically to cut only certain types of stone. The bond controls the speed the segments wear down and allow new diamonds to be exposed to always be cutting with a diamond edge.

The steel core can be purchased in my different styles. Diamond blades can either be segmented with spaces between each segment to allow for cooling and other types like tile saw blades use a single continuous rim for smoother cutting to prevent chipping. The type of core you choose will vary based upon the type of materials you plan to cut. Diamond blades require wet cutting in most applications. Water will keep the blade from getting too hot with the high heat generated from the cutting process. Keep the blade wet till also help reduce the amount dust created. Using your blade properly will help prolong the overall life of the blade to save both time and costs.
