A concrete mixer or cement mixer is a machine that mixes cement, sand or gravel, and water to make concrete. Normally, a concrete mixer uses a spinning drum to mix the materials with paddles connected to the inside of the drum. Portable concrete mixers are available for easy transport and small batches at a construction site. Using this type of machine is a nice alternative to mixing concrete by hand to both a better and faster mixer. Cement is really just one component of concrete. Concrete is really just a mix of both gravel, sand and cement. Concrete mixers can be used to mix batches of concrete from 2 cubic foot up to 16 cubic foot in a tow-able type machine. Large volume concrete needs to be made in a concrete truck. You can find concrete mixers with both steel and poly plastic type mixing drums. This is usually chosen based on the users preference.
