Pipe Threaders, Taps, Dropheads and dies are cutting tools used to create screw threads on the ends of all kinds of piping materials. Plumbers would use a tap to cut the inside or female end of a pipe. A die is used to cut the male part or the outside end of the pipe. Most people refer to the process of cutting the threads in a hole on a pipe is called tapping.
