A ceramic tile cutter is a manual tool that is used for making straight, short cuts on tile up to about 1/2 inch thick. Tile cutters are the smallest, safest and most cost effective way of cutting tile, but are slow and require a good amount of manual labor to make a large quantity of cuts. To make a cut you would place a tile in the cutter and use the overhead arm to make the cutter head that contains a scoring wheel to slide it across the tile surface. The cutter head is pushed down so the wheel contacts with the top of the tile, then it is drawn multiple times over the tile to make a score cut mark. Once the scoring is done further pressure is place on the cutter so the tile will begin to snap along the score mark. The edge may be slightly rough and might need to be sanded up with a grinding stone.
